Even just subtle plays like that by K'Andre are impressive for a kid in his second NHL game. He used his size to shield off a forechecker, keep the puck away from traffic, and got the puck up ice for us. He's been really, really good tonight

It’s up and down but that’s to be expected. @Edge had a very solid scouting report on him. He does things where you say ‘holy crap’ in a good way and then he dies things where you say ‘holy crap’ in a bad way. I think the latter comments will subside with time and experience and his size and skating are clearly NHL caliber

I’ve been able to concentrate on the game a lot more tonight and one thing that is very evident to me is that the Islanders are a slow team. Yes Barzal can skate like the wind but too many of their players really labor up and down the ice. At this point of the season, that should be a big concern.

he's WAY too hard on himself. It becomes abusive when you only magnify the negative.
Buch and Kreider were the same way for a LONG time. I feel like Buch had to ride the Quinn dog house and get grilled to play better without the puck which made him less hard on himself. Kreider still creeps into this mindset with how streaky he is.

Seriously, sports psychologists will be more and more of a thing with guys not working their way up the normal grind. It did wonders for Mackinnon who even after his breakout year had to consult with his sports Psych to avoid creeping back to his old self.

Worst player so far in this season is Strome. The guy has been invisible.
Came here to say the same thing. He looks terrible.

And Howden looks okay and is working hard but I just can’t get over him on the PP. He he maybe the worst skill of any forward on the roster. All he does is flub passes and lose the puck when stick handling. He’s a 3c at best, could be an elite 4th line and pk guy. But man he is really miscast by Quinn as a PP guy.

Easy to see why Davidson was going ga-ga with Miller’s praise.
