Absolutely agree with this. They are both guys who can lineup on either side because they’re dynamic and they flow around the offensive zone. Regardless of where they start a shift, you’ll see them on both sides of the ice throughout various possessions. Laf won’t be out of place at all.

It is different for each player though. Lafreniere and Berard have both told me they are comfortable playing either side while Will Cuylle for instance elaborated on the struggles playing on his off-side, especially on the backcheck.

It's interesting to hear different players describe their experience playing what we refer to as "out of position".

Absolutely, I was specifically talking about bread and Laf and the way they play. Not every player is that fluid and dynamic.

What I'm saying is that 8-2 and 9-2 don't happen that often so I'm not sure that's true.

So, give this thread a little time - I guarantee you many will support the memory: On several occasions, Georgiev singlehandedly prevented humiliating scores; losing 5-2 instead of 9-2 was a real thing for about a month. Tweet at Valiquette on it, or whatever people do in 2021.

They need to win tonight just to stop the stupid that has infected this place.

Like its gone from legitimate criticism to crying about EVERYTHING.

Well, when you have a sample of one people overreact to that one and only game. Also when you got embarrassed in the play-in round right before break it doesn't help. Not super rational but understandable.

Hughes looks like the best player on the ice

The added weight really helps. It's why his brother was better than him last year imo, the added mass at that speed can turn guys around even if they pressure him. I'm not knowledgeable enough to articulate the physics behind it, but the science behind the sport is pretty amazing if you think about it. More mass, more power, and more force with greater acceleration.

If Key, Lindy or Troubs were to catch him in the open ice at that speed, it would make for an all-time highlight reel hit. Like Stevens on Kariya.

Unfortunately the likes of Edge don't think he will be. What has he done as coach to stay?
By most measures, the rangers overachieved last year. I had faith in Quinn last season, because I saw progress in the development of many players. But that Game 1 was horrendous and he seems to be overreacting and playing mind games with players. Not to mention not being prepared after time off is starting to emerge as a pattern. If this continues then I will join the fire Quinn camp.

"Out of position" is a stretch. Lafrenière feels just as comfortable playing on the right side. Especially offensively, there's no difference with the style he plays. Panarin is the same way. They are both dynamic wingers and their position just determines where they line up for the face off, nothing more.
He'll soon be interviewed by Quinn for a center ice spot....or left defense .

He was even pushing players and going aggressively into board battles, Kakko needs to stop being so timid

Yes. Some players are just more comfortable with this. A guy like Kreider seems to play a more traditional style of hockey, sticking to one side, for instance.

Figuring out who can and who cannot adjust to this is important. Lafrenière shouldn't have any problems here

When are you speaking to these 18 year olds?

Hughes is a really smart kid, you can see him using guys pushing him to slide faster. Even Barkov was a mild disappointment until Jagr got there and worked with him and Huberdeau, pushed them to work harder. You can see the added mass gave him some swagger. Kakko supposedly had a good off-season of training as well, would like to see him play with more swag.
