Pre-Game Talk: 1st Round - Battle of Ontario - Toronto Maple Leafs vs Ottawa Senators

Big thing is whoever we play and mostly if it's the leafs we have no pressure on our side all the pressure is on the opponent.Sens are happy already to be in the playoff this year everything on top of it is just graavy. If we win 1 game or 2 away from home that pressure will just rise acter other team players mentally. Leafs are deeper this year and better defensively yet I don't see them as an actual Stanley contenders. For me in the east Tampa and Florida are the teams to beat and probably they will face eah other in the 1st. Other teams is a crap shoot can both sides for good reasons.

Not gonna lie this makes me nervous

Can we lose to them again?….

Playoffs a different beast even tho we have their number lately
It was a long time ago. And Sens are in a good position right now, nobody is really expecting them to do much damage in the playoffs. It’s our first time making it in the rebuild.

Hoping game one isn't on Sunday. First playoff game in ages vs. WrestleMania. :eek3:

With that being said if it's indeed the Leafs this is probably the most amped up I've been about a series since the cup run against the Ducks (or maybe the two series against the Habs). We HAVE to beat these guys or it's a failure. Being from Toronto, all my friends are Leafs fans so this is make or break for me.

Exactly this. Low risk, high reward. We're the clear underdog. This is our first playoffs. If we lose, it's no biggie. If we win, it's a gigantic hilarious upset.

What happened a quarter of a century ago is completely irrelevant. It's ancient history. The salary cap didn't even exist back then.

To win this Stutzle has to shoot the puck. When he is a danger to score it changes the whole team dynamic and forces the opposing team to try to contain him. Timmy is so fast and has such sweet handles that when he is scoring his line-mates have all this extra space.

I am predicting 4 goals and 4 assists in 7 games for Stutzle.

ngl this isn’t really how I wanted to return to the playoffs after 8 years
Me either. I think it'll be a bit of a downer for the players as well - first playoff appearance of your career and your 'home' games are 60% Leafs fans? Don't love that.

If this happens, the Sens playoff ticketing strategy only has themselves to blame.

I'm all for giving season ticket holders priority. But it's Game 80 and the general public can't buy tickets yet. We've been clinched for almost a week now, and at a 99% chance for 2+ weeks.

It's been a long time. Let's not let our memories cloud what might happen now. The Sens fan base was very young back then. Most of the adults in the city were either Leafs or Habs fans because the team had only been around for 10-15 years. A whole new generation of adults in the city grew up exclusively with the Sens.

Listen to Cyril Leeder interview on 1200, earlier in week, for info, explains how will work. He said would be this week, didn’t give an exact date.

Set aside some playoff tickets for the new STH who sign up after we clinch so they get guaranteed tickets or the lowest prices. And then get on with selling them to the general public

Really, eh? Yeah there will be a bunch of invaders in there, but the atmosphere will be electric. Probably crazier than Toronto.
Playoffs are not as bad or lopsided , as with the 50/50 fans, in regular season is, but will be electric.

Not being a homer or looking too far ahead when I should just be happy making the playoffs, but there is a possibility to go far in the east here. Ottawa matches up well against Toronto and the Florida teams could very well beat the crap out of each other badly.

Ottawa is better behind the blue line than Toronto and Ullmark is the goalie with the best pedigree. The Pinto line is going to frustrate Matthews and Marner and we've got 2 other lines that can score. All the pressure is on them and we've witnessed how they handle that pressure over the last few years.

The only team I didn't want to see 1st round was Tampa. While we swept the season series with Toronto, I can also see how they could beat us when it counts. I'm just happy to see the team here and hope this sets the bar for next season.
I don’t know. I think Tampa is a bit overrated this year personally. Obviously they’re very good and have championships, but they look very exploitable when I see them play.

Also, I can stomach losing to Tampa.

Why not? Leafs heavy favourites and the Sens are expected to lose. But if they win........... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
0-5 is still 0-5

Anyway, hoping Tampa wins just to make less likely that Toronto will rest players this week. Toronto wants to do everything they can to avoid Florida and that probably means playing the Core Four until game 82 if they must.
