LHS Winger

Was a standout for Russia at the Hlincka and the WJAC. At the Hlincka especially as he scored 7 of Russia's 18 goals at the tournament.

Black Book:
A feisty player who is almost always going a mile a minute, Pashin’s calling card is his intensity and work ethic. He keeps his feet moving, he’s very active on the ice and his top speed and acceleration are fine but for his size you wish his speed was closer to elite than what it is now. He plays with pace and he’s pesky all over the ice. Despite being listed at around 5’8” and 154 pounds, Pashin isn’t afraid to mix it up along the boards. He only played about half the season on his junior team and still led all forwards in hits (56).

Most had him projected as a mid-round pick, so getting him at #199 looks like an absolute steal.

Pronman had Pashin at #58
Wheeler had Pashin at #67
Scouch had Pashin at #34

Pronman had his Skating ranked at 65, tied for highest in the Draft class alongside Stutzle, Byfield and Gushchin.

Scouch:
  • Alex Pashin is as big a home run swing as it gets, but a well rounded offensive firecracker who works his tail off every shift with great quickness, skill and creativity is something right up my alley. He's years away from NHL success, but he's already pushing for a role in the KHL with a very strong group of 2001 and 2002 kids from Ufa. Similar to Johannesson, he'll be available later than he should in all liklihood."

Ridiculous draft for the Canes

Undersized Russian forward Alexander Pashin bounced around a bit this year, but spent the majority of his time with Tolpar Ufa in the MHL. He scored 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points in 37 games in the Russian Junior league. He also played two games in the VHL for Toros Neftekamsk, picking up one assist. Pashin made his KHL debut, playing one game for Salavat Yulaev Ufa. In four games with Salavat U18 squad, he picked up two assists. He also played 15 games with the Russian Under-18 team, scoring seven goals and 13 points. Pashin was impressive at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, putting up seven goals and an assist for eight points in five games and winning a gold medal. He also won gold at the World Junior A Championships, where he had four assists in six games.

Last season, Pashin had 10 points in 17 MHL games. He also scored three points in two games in the U18 league and 11 points in eight games in the U17. Pashin scored two goals and five points at the Under-17 WHC, winning another gold medal. He also had three points in three games at the European Youth Olympics.

Wasn't someone begging them to take this guy before we traded down? Or was this a different Pashin?

Yes, I was! He's a great player, I had him as a late 2nd rounder before today. Tons of skill, tons of speed, just lacks size and sometimes is too light on his skates. He's a project, but absolutely has top-6 ability.

Scum/Crud.

The equivalent of Czech mráz would be “moroz” if I am not mistaken.

It checks out.

I hope Devils 20th pick Shakir Mukhamadullin can feed Pashin all season for you guys!

If it means my guy gets more confidence and yours too? Why not!

Just dont expect to play nice when Shakir levels him in the 1st round of the 2026 NHL Playoffs ;)

Too much of height difference - Pashin will just sneak through Shakir's legs when he'll try to do that.

Just watched his pre-draft video. This guy comes across like he seriously does his homework and know exactly what he’s talking about from a video scouting perspective.
He’s the anti pronman.

There’s another YouTube guy with a French Canadian accent that I also liked a lot. Don’t think he did a Pashin video but he’s done Gunler. Just does a good job of showing you clips of attributes that actually make sense.

At this point I’m just floored to hear someone rattle off advanced metrics AND say they’ve verified whether they match reality on a substantial number of game watches.

Granted, the amount of time it takes to do all that is so extreme, he probably hasn’t seen the sun since last September.

Agreed, Scouching is great. Even the video editing is great...it's severely cut, but in doing so, he gets rid of dead space so he can deliver information without requiring an extensive amount of time to view the video.

As somebody that's an actual patron for Mr. Scouch, I can confirm that he hasn't. :D
