5'10 LHD who put up 13 in 18 (2/11) in the MHL last season and has gotten some ice time in the K (1A in 6) and VHL (1/2 in 12) as part of the CSKA organization. Managed to get in 7 games in the KHL playoffs this year as well which is telling with how a strong organization thinks of him.

Playing in the CSKA Moscow system, defenceman Vladimir Grudinin split time between the three major Russian leagues this year. He got in some time for the main KHL club, but in the games he did play, his ice time was limited. Grudinin had one assist in six regular-season games. He also played in seven playoff games as CSKA won the Gagarin Cup. Grudinin also spent time in Russia’s second division, the VHL. In 12 games he scored one goal and two assists for three points. Playing against his age group in the MHL or Russian Junior League, Grudinin was dominant. He scored two goals and 13 points in 18 games. However, his play tailed off in the playoffs where he picked up just one assist in eight games.

Canes have the luxury to kick back and relax about Grudinin's development. This is why they were able to snag him in the 5th round when he, IMO, was an early-2nd caliber prospect in terms of talent alone.
