I wanted to have two generational talents in eichel and Mcdavid, and With the emergence of Larkin and some other young players on my roster, I feel this was an opportunity that I could not give up.

Also with the new keeper rule, I felt like It's important to get quality for my future, having two obvious franchise tags after the rookie year.

Simply, I wanted to go the "Brock" route, having crosby and AO. Taking a big gamble for it, if the 1st turns into matthews.
