Thats simply not true. Check the old Kakko’s threads of when we first got him. His shot was considered to be at least as good as Laine’s. I had to convince people that his shot was below average and I was laughed at

Our 4th line is nice when it comes to getting pucks deep, forechecking and killing time. But man it'd be nice if they had one ounce of skill, they can't score to save their lives.

What happened to Zibanejad...? He's becoming more and more of a perimeter player who can't score on 5v5. He rarely even shoots the puck anymore... imagine if he had Ovechkin's or Matthew's confidence, he'd be so good. Mika got a real good shot, f***ing use it already.

When he’s on, he absolutely can drive play. This seasons Zibanejad is closer to his first half of 2021 than his second half of 2021 or his 2019/2020 run. His problem is that he hasn’t been consistent enough and relies too much on the powerplay to the point where it almost seems like he just waits for a powerplay to create instead of giving a full effort. Analytics back it up

Something is behind him losing that weight. Completely different player that he’s lighter. Too peripheral and afraid to get his hands dirty.

There's a big difference between being a 6th overall pick in detroit and being the number 1 or 2 overall in New York, nobody really points that out either. Ton of pressure playing in ny.

I concur. I'm not that worried, I just feel for the kids when they have a hard time. Especially Kakko who is so hard on himself and lets things get into his head. Laf strikes me as a winner who is naturally switched on when it matters. I'm waiting for the day Kakko relaxes and just starts to play with flow.

Disagree. He looks faster. Granted he looked faster in pre-season but I don’t think the weight loss factors into him looking worse. He just differs too much and looks afraid to make a mistake to the point where it leads to mistakes. You can tell his confidence isn’t there at all

I'd rather have a consistent player who controls the puck and is noticable. We all know what he is capable of but you can't just disappear the way he does with his role.
