Danforth is a cool story. Very generously listed at 5'9, never drafted in any league to my knowledge (Ontario kid who was passed over by the OHL). I spoke to one of his former AAA teammates from his childhood who told me he was never one of the more skilled guys on the team, just this small kid who showed up and worked his absolute butt off every day. He improved each year of junior A hockey but wasn't hugely prolific, then had a solid NCAA career. Played a year in the ECHL, two in Liiga and one in the KHL before getting an NHL contract at age 28. He's 31 now and seems to be continuing to improve. We could use some of that speed and heart in this lineup.

Honestly, I hate saying this ... but the best thing for this franchise would be to just keep on losing the next 5 or so games so that even a dickhead like PV has no more leverage to keep Cronin around.

In other words: make Cronin a Ronin!
We've gone from hoping for losses for a good pick to hoping for losses for a competent coach.

I'm not sure if that's progress or a step back but i'm sure the losses shall come.

I think our players have their asses in front, too, as well as feet for hands, so this fits.

Excluding EN goals, it’s been 9 games since we scored 3+ goals. Carlsson has 1 point in his last 6 games after a decent start to the year.

Cronin has done nothing to impress, but I blame our bad play due to individual bad decisions made by players with the puck.

We can be an effective unit with or without the puck. We are dangerous when we make tape to tape passes and have speed. When we can’t we can still put the puck in smart areas and apply pressure.

But too often we are putting the puck in bad areas and the other team gets a counteract and we play defense for 90 seconds. And due to our terrible faceoffs it can take several shift to mount pressure again.

We badly need a faceoff specialist and bench people who make bonehead plays.

Man, our 27 GF on the year really sticks out amongst the league.

I feel like we may not hit 200 GF on the season lol, we’d need to average 2.51 g/game the rest of the way and that seems like a tall order. last year we were 30th in the league with 204.

This is a good litmus test for literally everyone on this board that a Dean Evason-level coach would do wonders for this team.

I think people need to be prepared for not much happening. I would be shocked if cronin was fired.
Carlyle didn't get fired after a 12 game losing streak in a year where the Ducks were allegedly competing for a playoff spot. Despite winning nothing in his 11 year tenure after inheriting a Stanley Cup winner, it was only an off ice issue that got Bob Murray fired.

Ducks then employed one of the worst coaches in league history for 5 years. Somehow they might have found an even worse coach but even then I doubt they fire him anytime soon. Not only would I be shocked if Cronin was fired this season, I'd be shocked if he was fired in the off season.

If the team looks like it does now at the end of the season and he isn't let go I'm done for awhile
