Can't really understand why Geekie over Coyle on the top PP unit...is Geekies shot/one timer that much better than Coyles?

I think his release is quicker. Him getting some chance for chemistry with the point getters isn’t a bad thing. Geekie and Frederic both flash “enough” skill that you wonder if they could be effective physical glue guys with more skilled players. Tampa always seems to find those guys.

Ok, facing the Boston Bruins is a tough hurdle for any team. The Devils have some breaks. 1) Home Ice and all the benefits that come with it. 2) No McAvoy for the Bruins; this is a tremendous benefit for the Devils. And 3) No Zacha for the Bruins. When Paval Zacha left the Devils for the Bruins, most Devils fans were happy. But in Boston, he has become the player the Devils had hoped he would be. So, with these advantages, we have a chance against the best goalie tandem in the NHL.

Let's Go Devils

You missed the most important part.

Jesper Boqvist has been recalled from the AHL.

Where he was completely pedestrian.

Glad to see Ian Mitchell in the lineup. Really impressive player strong on the puck good IQ seems very skilled .
That play against Yotes where he battles two players and makes a backhand pass to Pasta for an assist on the goal was polished.

Top line/PP1 Geekie. That'll please the folks who want him scratched. I think he's been just ok for the Bruins. He felt more noticeable in Seattle and there was the odd game there where he'd have a really big impact, and it doesn't feel like he's yet reached that level in Boston. So while it does seem strange to see him potentially being bumped up the pecking order in this one, perhaps it will get him going and give him some extra confidence and opportunity to shine. If we're lucky he'll take it.

Otherwise the lines are a complete blender, and seem to be more so than strictly needed even allowing for the absence of Zacha. All 3 of the top 9 combinations have spent less than 5 mins together so far this season, so there's no formbook on any of them. You can probably think of reasons why this or that might work, but reality is we don't really know, probably the coach doesn't either. We'll start with this, see how it shapes up (hopefully good) and I'm sure changes will be made as we go along.

The Devils of course have injury issues of their own, so no excuses for the Bs. You put on the ice what you can and try and make the best of it.

So Zacha s out and we called Boqvist who s a defensive soft plug 4th liner at best...why not calling offensive hot ahl players right now, Merkulov or Lysell...

I think this will be a tough one for the Bruins given the key injuries. I just hope we see a full 60 minute effort from our well-rested team. Rooting for Poitras to play a well rounded game, and put up another point or two.
You never know what can happen when you have a player of Pasta's skillset. Will he provide back-breaking giveaways? Will he score ridiculous goals? Probably a bit of both, lol. GO B's GO!
