Due to medical issues, I couldn't watch this game live. I just watched the replay. In summary:

- let's start by wondering who this ops team was. It certainly was Dallas Stars at their worst so any or all performances by Hawks players must be taken with a grain of salt.
- that said, no matter, the raised confidence level of slumping Hawks players was evident almost immediately
- the biggest and most obvious examples being Taylor Hall and Snipe Bedard
- also players like Crevier, Bertuzzi, Donato, Mikheyev, Vlasic, Martinez (who was +3)

Other notes: Though many disagree, I still like Hall playing with Bedard but only IF Hall can play his power forward game at speed but he needs consistency. I especially like that line with Donato ( or Foligno if it doesn't upset overall line balance too much). Once during the game the 71,98,8 trio were together, so maybe Richardson will try it for more shifts in the future. Mikheyev will never be considered an offensive player but when he uses those great wheels he can be quite an asset on both sides of the puck. He can give OPs nightmares trying to outskate him. Bert was on the ball this game. We badly need another Shaw-like player on this team and Bert is the guy. I don't know why Allan sits games out at this stage. It's head scratcher for me

Hope you're feeling well Bobby. Still hate Hall with Bedard.

Sending you good thoughts, Bobby. But also wanted to tell you that no matter how many times you use it, Snipe just isn't going to catch on.

It's why I can't get on board with the idea of paying up for Kyle Connor or Brock Boeser. A mostly one-way shooter isn't what Bedard needs, at least not as the one big spend.
Bedard basically needs a Tkachuk on his wing. Last I looked, that caliber and type of player is near impossible to find unless KD can find a big gritty guy who hasn't bloomed yet. They can be found, but it's rare. That's when talented scouting and an astute GM can come in handy.

Maybe that Podkolzin guy who was on the Canucks then traded to the Oilers? I haven't watched him much. Hmm...thought he was bigger than that after checking his NHL page.
