Has anyone received an e-mail from TicketMaster requesting tax info for a 1099-K form (US tax) before you can get paid for the Oiler tickets you sold through your Account Manager?
As a Canadian will you get paid if you ignore this request?

This sounds complicated.

Ignore it and you’ll get paid.

it may take about a week after the game before you get paid though. Be patient and it will show up.

I’d ignore it too. Not sure why Ticketmaster.CA (although I know they are a US company but operating a CDN subsidiary) needs a CDN citizen to fill out a US tax form. Sounds scammy to me.

i received it last week, and a reminder a couple days ago.. ill wait and see i suppose, mine goes to an account credit instead of a cheque sent.

The emails are legitimately from Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster, as a US company, is apparently obliged by the IRS to ask everyone it sends money to anywhere in the world to fill out the form, regardless of where they live. The form simply asks you to certify that your Canadian address, which they already have, is your permanent residence. Much as I am no fan of Ticketmaster, this certainly was not their idea. The US has long had a fairly oppressive theory of its right to intrude on extra-territorial business dealings when any US entity is involved.

StubHub actually wanted to withhold income tax on sales to American purchasers. Which is why I sell extra tickets through the team website now.
