The Oilers have a ton of injuries though so this could go bad for Edmonton.

Some interesting looking matchups tonight.
Haven't seen the Islanders yet so i'll start with that game.

Can someone explain the difference between a penalty and Penalty shot in a breakaway situation? I've seen that play so many times and some times I see it called a penalty and others I see it called as a penalty shot. Yeah there was slashing and that is a penalty, but I thought a penalty shot was something so egregious it affects the guy on the breakaway in a major way. If the guy is able to still get the shot off, I don't think that should be a penalty shot.

Dallas have been outplaying Vancouver the entire period until the end of their second powerplay where Burrows got hooked on a breakaway and scores on a penalty shot. 1-0 Vancouver despite being outshot 10-4.

Burrows was able to get a clean shot away on Niemi on the breakaway before he was awarded the penalty shot, which was shot #2.
