I think we should have post-game threads. I hate having to keep the gameday thread alive to talk about the game.

Anyhow, despite the fact that our opponent is just not engaged to be anything but a lottery team that was a terrific effort. I'm afraid Maroon's ACL is blown out. Hopefully it's just a sprain. Love the special teams. They've really come around.

Gotta love the game Karlsson had. That's the kind of effort that will keep him here. I hasn't terribly impressed with him the other night except for that shot he rang off the post. The kid is definitely more talented than Rakell and if he can continue to be effectively offensively he'll have his spot.

I'm on my phone having a conversation with a buddy and stopped midsentence when I saw there was a game day thread made after the game. I was so confused.

Any update on Maroon? I hope he's not hurt bad. Such a great start.

I don't think we'll get much before the certainly coming MRI. Which could be done as soon as today, or might take a few days if there's too much swelling.

A couple of us, including me, fear it's the MCL.

meh, I don't care either way, but I wish we'd decide on whether to have one or not. I'm fine with staying in the game day thread, but if the mods don't like it, that's fine, but please close the other one. Don't like going back and forth.

Boudreau said he hadn't received an update on Maroon when they interviewed him.

Which could be good. I know that an ACL is relatively easy to get a first diagnosis on with a simple move, which is why there's often a soft word on it before confirmation, but I don't know if there's a similar thing for the MCL. It's not a guarantee, either way, unfortunately.

Thanks. I hope he is okay. Such a good player.

Maroon was already dressed and walking out. Looked like he had some type of lengthy soft protective deal on left leg under suit.

Hang on Big Dog!

Really like the Swedish connection with Silf and Wild Bill.. Really think they can push eachother to solid seasons!

Good news?

Ducks should know more tomorrow on Maroon but first look appears to be not a devastating, months-long thing. My guess it's not an ACL tear.

Shouldn't he be holding two?

Edit: Awww..just noticed he got the firemen's hat!

Haven't taken anatomy in years, one of an MCL or ACL is not a weight bearing ligament correct? I just don't want to get too hyped up about him walking. (maybe it's a PCL that's weight bearing? Am I making a PCL up?)

I hope WK stays this way and not pull a DSP or Etem. The rookie magic needs to stay with him.

The difference in Karlsson and those two is that his talent isn't just a physical aspect, which is why he was ranked so high in our prospect pool this year. He seems to have the IQ and the talent. Etem's vision is probably the worst among our forward group. He's always relied on physical attributes of his game to do well in lower leagues. DSP is similar but I actually think DSP is a much smarter player. He struggles with effort at times, but that extra year in the AHL just seemed to round out his game. That's why I was so adamant this offseason about giving Rakell and Etem another year. Yes, both players can probably contribute in some way at this level, but I don't feel it's best for either. I'd rather them dominate the AHL level or show they're too good for that league. I think it's evident in both their play so far. Etem can be serviceable simply due to his physical traits, but that doesn't mean he's "NHL ready". This is why I despised the decision let Perreault go. Fortunately it appears that Karlsson is much further along then Rakell. I admit (and admitted in the offseason) that I hadn't seen him much, so I couldn't judge him well. However, I didn't think it was smart to let a guy who wasn't ready (Rakell) and a guy who's played roughly 10 AHL games (Karlsson) compete for a 3rd line center spot on a team going for it all this year. Here's hoping that Karlsson continues to make me be wrong and Murray to be right.

I know the ACL is weight bearing, and I'm pretty sure the MCL is too. However, I'm not positive on that. If he's walking, my guess is that it's a sprain.

I don't really know. I know I walked after tearing my ACL. Actually continued a game of soccer after a short stint at the sidelines. It takes away stability, but if nothing else is damaged and you have developed muscles there and just a more fortunate physique, it's not a problem to walk. I think I remember that you don't have muscles that can do the same for an MCL tear. Whether that means one wouldn't be able to walk, though, or it just means far less stability in other stress situations, I do not know.

Like the post game thread idea....the line of Silf Karlsson and Cogs were playing excellent up until the Maroon injury switched the lines up.

DSP looked a lot better.
Twins had a good game as usual.
Kesler was a beast once again.
Etem was underwhelming. I am about to give up on him. I think he knows this is his last shot. Got to think if he doesn't make anything happen soon, he won't be a Duck come playoffs.

I closed the other one. I think having a post game thread probably brings out more quality posts than the GDT dragging on so will give it a shot.
