Any idea what happened to that woman trying to hold the horse for a photo after a win at Cumberland? Not good timing. The horse head-butted her right in the face, seemed to knock her glasses to the ground. Camera quickly went away. She's lucky if she didn't suffered any facial damage, or hopefully not a direct hard hit.

not on site but thanks for the update, any track personnel know how to handle scenarios like that just like the suspended/cancelled card from mid July..... it happens.... but that's where the respect for these athletes come in...

Saratoga (New York):
  • Handle: $19.7 million.
  • Attendance: 32,000+
  • Race 1: Two Sharp (Junior Alvarado/Phil Bauer) made her second career start an 11-length rout in an awesome display. Bauer, the trainer, is 20-for-55 since 2022 at Saratoga.
  • Race 8: Cinderella's Dream (William Buick/Charlie Appleby) improved to 7 6-0-0 including 2-for-2 in the US after a stylish victory to win the Grade 2 $400,000 Saratoga Oaks. The Great Britain bred races five times overseas before being sent to America.
  • Race 9: Neat (Junior Alvarado/Rob Atras) won the Grade 2 $500,000 Hall of Fame Stakes. Neat was cold on the board and I don't see why. The colt was 2-for-2 at the distance and 5-for-7 lifetime on turf. Favorite Army Officer (Frankie Dettori/Brad Cox) was nowhere to be found and though had a win at the Spa on turf only had two races on grass lifetime.
  • Race 10: Evaluation (Irad Ortiz, Jr./Chad Brown) debuted to a victory in the finale. At $260,000, right around the price of a Klaravich Stables horse, the very astute ownership that has horses almost exclusively with Brown.
  • Junior Alvarado's two wins put him in seventh spot at this meet. He began meekly.
  • Chad Brown won twice and is comfortably ahead by seven victories in the trainers' standings.
Monmouth (New Jersey):
  • Canceled: Heat.
Meadowlands harness (New Jersey):
  • Canceled: Many events caused the race card to be canceled following the ninth race. A decision was made around 11:30 pm. The night originally called for 14 races
Delaware Park (Delaware):
  • Final Two Races Canceled: Heat.
Laurel (Maryland):
  • Jeiron Barbosa got a few paychecks finishing 7 2-2-2.
Colonial Downs (Virginia):
  • Canceled: Races 5 through 9 due to power issues related to heat in the area following a delayed start time to the opener.
Belterra (Ohio):
  • Race 7: Mason A.P. (Thiago Canuto/John Hill) won one for the older sect. The 9-year-old, bred in Florida, was out for the entire 2023 campaign and won today for the first time in 20 months.
Del Mar (California):
  • Race 8: The $1 Pick 6 paid over $100,000.

Assiniboia Downs has an entertaining free live stream for all of its race days. Monday is Manitoba Derby day. Support the smaller tracks.

UPDATE: The Pick 5 pool could exceed $1 million.

That is what $1.3 million CAN do. Nice effort from the inside post in a debut. Ferocious, a 2-year-old son to Flatter and in a time that has to be considered impressive.

Jeez. Junior Alvarado has turned into a big-time rider the last handful of years. Good for him. I boxed 1-3-11, thought I had something with the Russells overlooked from Maryland at 25-to-1 but Post Time couldn't hold onto second. 1st and 3rd, that exacta would have been a monster.

you would have been disgusted with the payout if the 1 hung on for second. 11-1 exacta only would have paid $70.
