Jack
Bratt
Kovacevic
Luke
Hischier
Siegenthaler
Meier
Hamilton (While not our best EV, his PP value cannot be understated)
Pesce

Gotta give some love to George… but yes, it was a joke
ok...I was writing a response and changed because I figured it had to be a joke.....obviously he's not been the best....one of the worst....my son watches a lot of their games and I hear him scream all the time at how horrible he is....all of their goalies.....they got rid of them though I guess, so we'll see

For the Leafs:
Stolarz
Marner
Woll
Nylander
Tavares
Tanev
McCabe
Knies
Matthews
OEL

Matthews barely cracks the top 10 for me. He has been injured, first of all, and when he plays he doesn't look like himself at all.

Gotta say that it’s a bit hypocritical to criticize voting fatigue and recency bias when members of our Oil fan base do the same.

Season as a whole…

McDavid (always)
Draisaitl
Ekholm
Nurse
Kulak
Pickard
Hyman
Bouchard
RNH
Podkolzin

Sorry what exactly is the recency bias you are accusing me of? I made my list before Drais dominant game last night.

For me over the whole season he has been the best Oiler. Producing at a great offensive clip, 17 ESG, and also playing elite defensive hockey. Not to mention Drai is playing with the worse linemates.

When I saw that list I assumed the top spot was based on the principle “Some people light up a room by entering it, some by leaving it”.

Unfortunately Georgiev only lights up a certain red light.

Drai has been better than McDavid in totality. Do I think he stays as the MVP of the team all year? No.

Recency bias? The Oilers are only 29 games into their season. Even if a guy has only been noticeably better for the last 10-12 games and you consider the previous games they were relatively equal overall in their play, you could say one guy has played better then the other so far. McDavid was not very good the first 10 to 12 games of the season. Even saying McDavid has been better then Draisaitl for the first 29 games of the season could be considered recency bias. Both Draisaitl and McDavid have been awesome recently. Neither were great to start the season.

Considering how much the Oilers have been winning recently, it would make sense that the guys who have been playing better recently have been the better players so far this season. McDavid is the best player on the Oilers, that is not even debatable and was not the question. We are talking about 29 games and in the Oilers case probably only about 15 games because they were no darn good the first 14 or so and no one was playing that great on the team before that either. 53 games to go.
