Trouba was hilariously bad

He looked weak. He was manhandled a couple times and treated like a traffic barrel a couple other times. He had one really good shot on goal. Defensively he just looked weak and outmatched.

Let’s hear the hot Kakko takes

Some players just don’t have what it takes to be elite NHL players. It’s not a knock on them. I think the disappointment comes from the expectations. I think many of the fans that are disappointed in Kakko are disappointed because he might not be the game-changer that we all thought he could be. I still think he will be a very good top 6 player, and I’m fine with being patient with him, but I need to see some improvement. I’ll give him 5-10 games to really see what’s going on with him though.

Chytil is the same hand grenade who looks like he's never seen a puck before he was three years ago.

Chytil made more exciting plays in his first year. He looks far from being an impactful guy like a Robert Thomas.
Part of the reason I wanted Miller far away from playing this year along with Kravtsov. They need to develop away from here.

We won our first game last year and scored 6 goals.

We're definitely worse-off than we were late-2019 and nobody expected that. It's a letdown.

Lindgren played like Lindgren. Chytil was ok, Gauthier was solid, but freakin' score some day kid, Laf didn't play a bad debut game. Tony's still a dumbass and not good on D. Miller looked like he was and inexperienced Defenseman playing his first professional game

But what the hell was management thinking bringing in Johnson? At $15.75 salary he's a bad investment. He played just as bad as any sensible person thought he would play. Sure Smith may play Saturday, but Johnson will be out there again.

Two things
1) I’m not making any assumptions on Kakko until I see him on a team with a real coach. Quinn is not that at this point

2) Gorton needs to go out and get a left D. Move Tony to get him if you have too, but I can’t watch the left side with just 1 NHL caliber player this year. K’Andre isn’t ready and Jack Johnson shouldn’t have been signed to begin with

When this is the case, a change behind the bench is overdue.

Chytil was good last year after coming up from Hartford. We fixed that but now the big team is a black hole.

I feel like I read something last season about how Hank regularly gives up two early, easy goals, how hard it is for teams to get past that, and how Igor doesnt do that.

What? You can’t compare this to prior seasons. There wasn’t even a preseason. And who said that about Igor?

Things will look incredibly different when the offense is clicking (all credit to the isles disrupting us) and also maybe not getting buried by the officials in the first five mins. It’s tough to come back from that against a veteran defense-first team.

Good news is the Rangers have been well known for developing skilled forwards so this problem should be remedied fairly soon.
