One more time peeps

Deal these vets -- Buchnevich, Deangelo, Strome, Georgiev --- for decent value, don't be concerned about top dollar. Just get decent for them.
Eventually replace w/Kravtsov, Nils L, Barron and prob Wall, stopgap G is fine.

Unload JJ + Smith -> never should have been acquired in the first place
for
Stralman + 2021 2nd, would even take 2022 2nd if nec.

Get the deal done.
Cap neutral this season. Add 5m next season [if Stralman sticks] for a 2nd.

Reunanen, Hajek, Robertson are hungry and need playing time.
Use that.

Take it on the chin for growing pains and then with everybody getting decent mins and staying sharp, things will improve.

Countless busts, watching coveted targets slip through our fingers, seemingly rushed prospects constantly floundering, bad trades, bad contracts, blind commitment to bad vets. I still haven't seen anything to indicate why this GM was so high on Quinn.

There's plenty of good, lots of players who are young and contributing. There is just A LOT not to like about the job our GM has done these last three seasons and I have felt like we turned a blind eye to it bc we were in a rebuild. You can be in a rebuild and not make one bad move for every one good one. Curious to see if the bloom starts coming off the gorton rose this season if the team continues to underachieve.

That said, I dont put this particular result on anyone. If you were surprised by today's result idk what to tell you. Young team that doesn't seem to be getting coached effectively especially on D. Going against one of the best coached teams with a very strong D system. No time to practice. Lots of discombobulation was expected and that is what we saw. This is it though for the Quinn era. 3 years is enough time to figure out how to play competent hockey more often than we do.

Look, I do my fair share of it, but why are people bitching about Howden as if he was part of the problem tonight? He played really well on the PK and was good in limited minutes at 5v5. Yes, he needs to have these games more consistently, but give the kid credit when it's due.

Bring back Iron Mike Keenan. He'll whip these girls in shape in no time. Time to stop babying players like Kakko. Mike will play mind games with these youngsters by switching players lockers between periods and other mentally confusing tactics. I know it sounds weird but it works. He used to bust Brett Hull's chops like this and look how well he did afterwards: 2 Stanley Cups. Iron Mike will wrend, mangle and destroy the minds of these delicate flowers and they will be born hard again.

Keenan would trade them out for grit. There is no checking line to change the tempo or work the corners. This was a finesse team hoping to skate.

He’s slouched, saying that the other team is really good and that this team is a good learning lesson for young players. There’s no anger or emotion. He looks like a professor giving a lecture after waking up from a nap.
It’s bad because it kind of means his mindset is “we’re not as good as then” in the back of his head. That’s not good coming from the coach.

Watching other games around the league I feel like ours is by far the most listless and worst pace.

I really didn’t think K’Andre was bad. A little jittery at first but not anything warranting him being taken out.

As difficult as it is these guys are going to need to get going immediately. No time to kick the rust off. Over a week or two.

Alexis has the look I expect from a competitor. His anger is palpable. That’s a leader — as long as the anger doesn’t manifest itself negatively. He speaks about what he will do and what the team will do. No excuses. This sucked. We will be better. Done.

I’ve gotta agree. I’ve been watching a ton of games and the Rangers looked the slowest and most listless by a mile. We know it’s not a talent issue, or slow players... so it’s on the coach, IMO.

Did that guy even watch the game? Howden didn’t deserve the minutes at all last season. He did tonight. People just love to hate on the guy. It’s one of the oddest things I’ve seen.
True. Look, I've been extremely critical of Howden for a long time and I think rightfully so, but some people can't even give credit where credit is due. Is his play going to continue? Who the hell knows it was just one game but he earned his ice time tonight.

When Brett Howden is the player of the game you are in big f***ing trouble!

(he was the Rangers best player tonight)

I've written many harsh words about Howden's play in the past and I stand by them, but this is 100% correct. Howden was excellent and earned every second of ice time he got tonight.

Howden was the only person I voted for in the poll, and I’m not a fan generally. He looked good.

Nail on the head. I’ll admit I was scrutinizing KAM (along with KK snd AL) and noticed only two snafus: he pinched once when he shouldn’t have, leaving his partner alone, and then another time he made a lousy pass that got intercepted in the NZ.
