I can't see that second line working out well.

Rangers have a way of sucking out of the gate and with a bunch of rookies against a really amped up and veteran Isles team, I can see us getting shellacked, especially during the long change period.

Hope our goalie comes to play. If we win, it'll be our usual. Crazy good goaltending and goals from Zibanejad and Panarin.

we get dominated bubble style and Gorts pulls the trigger on a PLD trade

Can't wait to see Jacques Martin's defensive scheme.

Gonna miss Greg McKegg. He had a leg for an arm, and an arm for a leg.
Would have been awesome if his 1st name WAS Leg! Better yet "Leftleg". I could hear Sam saying; "Leftleg McKegg flying down the left side, centers.......the Rangers score! Its a PPG!"

He wasn't a cog lol.

I'm not going to say that he was a passenger because that isn't true, he made his share of plays, but hes easily the least important player on that unit and the lack of diversity makes them EASIER to plan against.

Like just because something worked doesn't mean that you shouldn't think about ways to make it better.

this strome narrative is lacking

all the numbers point to a guy who was another value bargain contact last season and who produced numbers.

lets review shall we

3rd on team points
4th in goals
2nd in assists.
4th in PP points
+21

and the primary driver of that bus named panarin.

not understanding the lack of appreciation for ryan strome other than hes not overly fast, not overly creative and not shiny and sparkly.

hes just a solid hockey player

I do not disagree but I think that until it is not working, especially in the shortened camp, there are other things to focus on.

I know that would piss ME off, if I were ADA. Who knows? Quinn pulling a Herb Brooks/Torts motivational tactic?
Maybe I shouldnt put those 2 in the same sentence.
Quinn is supposed to be good in that area, right?
Or maybe it was obvious that DeAngelo playing on his off-side for entire games against top competition was a really bad idea? Or maybe Miller showed something?

Guy who plays on the top PP unit of one of the most productive units in the league is 4th on the team in PP points. This isn't a surprise lol considering the one guy who he finished head of on that top unit almost never touches the puck (Kreider)
Who gives a f***?

Strome's not stupid. He knows most people think last year was a fluke, and he was riding the Panarin Greyhound. He's gonna have to duplicate the success.

No matter what, though, we got the better-looking Strome. Have you seen Dylan?

Quite possible.
I think we'll have our answer once this kid starts getting tagged a little this game.
Unless of course, he's up for the task, which would be best case scenario.

Nah.

I dunno why every time the Rangers play the Islanders some one (not always you) thinks that the Isles goons are going to run around doing what ever they want and pick fights with young guys. It NEVER happens.

Like if Johnston decided he wanted to take a run at Lafreniere, what would stop Lemieux or anyone else from jumping Barzal?

Great first match up for a very young, very skilled team that hasn't played team D at all. The Isles are a machine. A f***ing boring machine but still one that can be highly effective. For the Rangers to succeed they have to figure out how to beat shit teams that can effectively kill all offense, passing and creativity. I'm not sure they have this figured out yet but might as well get started tonight.

I'm intrigued by what Laf might be able to do against this stout neutral zone forecheck of the Fish.

A guy like Panarin is sometimes hesitant to get it deep and tries to force zone entries that aren't there. Laf has that grinding dimension to him, he has no problem gettind rid of the puck and putting on his hard hat to go get it back. He can be a monster on the forecheck as the F1.

also, as a season ticket holder, this really f***ing sucks i, and everyone else, can't be at this game.

Now that the Lundqvist era 2005-2020 is over, I’m interested to see whether this new era will be remembered as the Lafreniere era or the Sheterkin era

If the Avs Blues game was any indication, I think this first game is going to be real tough for the Rangers. Blues are big north-south team. Avs are a skilled team. Avs looked disjointed, especially against a team like the Blues. Rangers-Islanders is a very similar matchup of styles. I hope the team is able to push through. But I think it's going to be an uphill battle.
All due respect, I dont think the Isles are the Blues. But I will certainly be blue in the face if the Isles win tonight.
