Not saying you're wrong BUT if our elite wingers can prop up Strome and Chytil it may not matter so much offensively at least. If Chytil can mesh with Lafreniere and Strome continues to have the chemistry with Panarin I would say those are two decent 2c's. Of course most teams losing a center of Mika's ability is going to drop them down double digit spots in center ice depth in the league.
True but our 1C is injury prone

This game is up there with TDA’s debut, Igor’s debut, Game 1 against the Hurricanes, and the 1st game of the 2019-20 season in terms of my excitement level (if you don’t take the playoffs into account). Maybe even more so, given the wait. K’Andre has been my favorite defensive prospect ever since he was picked...and of course Lafreniere. We should also see an improved Kakko, Fox (not that he was ever bad), Howden, Chytil, etc., all of whom now have some playoff experience. LGR.

The hype level would have still been even higher, but our play in the bubble is still on my mind.

Absolutely the only worry when it comes to Mika. Sucks but that's the reality. Gonna be a big choice for the club when they have to extend him 6-7 years.
Yea and that’s partially my point. Not only is our C depth average at best, but our best center is injury prone. I’m sure this has been discussed many times before though.

It's going to be an impressive test for Lafreniere. We didn't put him on a line with Zibanejad or Panarin, he's playing with a young center who is still figuring out his game at this level and wasn't even consistently a center last season, and another rookie on the wing.

NYR are asking a lot of him to try to be the driver on that line.

  • Will Chytil step forward or settle in to being a 3rd liner?
  • Exactly how good is Lafreniere?
  • Will K'Andre be exposed or fit in?
  • How bad is Hajek if he can't beat out Jack Johnson?
  • Is the hype about Buchnevich real?
  • Kakko has to be better than last season, right?
  • Management torturing Tony D by substituting Johnson for Staal?
  • Win or lose, no one can whine that this Rangers team won't be fun to watch.
  • Hockey on TV in these times is the best.

can't wait to be disappointed with my lofty expectations

I mean I just want that first line to dominate as usual, Panarin and Kakko to score a few, Gauthier and Laf to get their first NHL goals, Miller to be a stud back there and for Fox to rack up like 3 points and Igor pitch a shutout

The head issues are obviously the concern. The other major injury was a freak injury crashing into the boards that could happen to anyone.
I guess the hope like Crosby he is able to have a full career even with some history of concussions.

Well, if you arent disappointed at all......then I count a final score of Rangers 6, Islanders 0. At least that much. Hope you're well satisfied postgame.
