He’s certainly earned it. He’s slowed down a bit but he’s still a hell of a player, and ideally there won’t be as much asked of him this year with Rice, Brown and Worthy at WR. Keep him on a pitch count throughout the season so he’s fresh come January and go for 3 in a row.

Not sure about Rice and his legal issues about being able to play this season. But Brown and Worthy will help. Plus they drafted Wiley, a TE from TCU in Round 4 to give Kelce some snaps off.

But, clearly, beginning to see some decline in his game.

Sounds like Rap/others got it wrong in that it’s not an extension but rather re-working his current deal to give him a raise and guarantees. Still only under contract for 2 more years as he was previously, based on what Veach is saying.

Hmm.. Typically if they are adding more money, they'd tack on another year or so to spread out SB money. Or it's just a straight conversion of base salary to a bonus.

sounds like what it ended up being:
Guaranteed this year and most of next, the “2 years” tacked on seem fake.
